Fall Opens At The Inn!

Posted September 15, 2012

What an exciting opening week everyone! A ‘sneak preview’ BBQ on Monday ( who else was open for it’s Members?! ), a great Formal signing in ceremony with an original ledger from 1912, a GREAT photo of our group and building out front, and  a delicious steak dinner! How can you beat that?!

We are just warming up, so stay tuned and keep the suggestions coming.. We are having a glitch with that function, but should have it worked out soon.

Here’s to Cloister @100, and to another 100 hence!

Happy 2012 everyone, it’s the Club’s 100 anniversary year, WOW!!!! What a great time to be here, both for graduating Seniors, and Juniors helping in the recruiting effort for that remarkable time. Monday holds a very important all club meeting @ 6:30 with the introduction of our new Top five officers, a discussion about the year to come, and our efforts as regards recruiting. Please be sure to make every effort to attend and add your voice as a Member of an INCLUSIVE, NOT exclusive club. The next few weeks have great Members only events along with opportunities to reach out to those who will be Spring Social, and Fall dining members. This is YOUR Cloister Family for you to encourage to join here. In the meantime as always keep me posted as to your requests, and we will provide..

Hasta Man~ana!

Hello/Goodbye!

Posted October 14, 2011

Hi Innards,
Nope not the Band.. We have a couple of Changes on the B L scene..Jim is off to Terrace, he prefers a ‘sloppier kitchen’ (His words!), and we Welcome Joe from the Olde York Country Club. Joe does a great Job, and I’m sure you will enjoy his preparations. Be sure to give him a warm welcome, as we wish Jim a fond farewell…

Make sure Karon knows you loved her Indian dinner she made w/ Cindy tonight!

And We’re Off!

Posted September 26, 2011

Greetings inmates,
Looks Like our info tech chairs now have us up and running. I tried to respond to earlier suggestions, and arrgghh they got deleted… Thanks for your good work getting us on track Luis! Well Fall is here, the last of the Jersey tomatoes and corn, the arrival of excellent local apples (check out the honeycrisps!) and pears..we’ll get some caramel, and candy ones too!

We’ll be having an Oktober Fest dinner prior to break, and a ‘Jazz Cafe’ dinner as well..I’ll be working on the details with the officers..stay tuned.. Of course we’ll have a grand Semi Formal on Sat 10/15, and Sunday 10/23 we’ll be hosting members of the Delaware Valley Alfa Romeo Club for their annual Picnic. I am a member of this group, we’ll be here between Brunch and dinner…so do come visit. You will see a fine collection of Vintage Italian autos, one year we had 2 1938 LeMans Race cars… talk about ‘Heavy Metal’!!!

Please keep those suggestions, and visits coming..we love to see you smiling… and bestest wishes to our Jewish Members this week, for a Healthy, happy, and prosperous New Year.

Yours in ‘Good Taste”

Fond “Diue”

Posted December 12, 2010

….or should I say a Fond Adieu..(:

Well Inmates 2010, is fast coming to a close, Chanukah behind us, Christmas and NewYears only days away.. But post the pleasure of last nights festivities I wanted to take a moment and give thanks…

After all these years (I stopped counting after 30!) it’s still a charge to create such a ‘delicious’ and memorable evening in conjunction with my professional team and the officers. I want to thank Max, Raul, Cindy, Eddy, Hector, Johanna, Yolanda, Chicky, Antonio, Efer, Cathy, Karon, and Mike for their tireless efforts throughout the year, and of course at these special events. I am so proud of this Family, and the cuisine served at Cloister every day. The Dining room team lead by our Head Waitress Dawn, and supported with Captains Josh, Jade, and Zach did an awesome job once again last night serving an elegant seated dinner to nearly 275 very Dapper members and guests. Special Kudos to our retiring’ ‘Top 5′ Barrett, Dave, Alex, Tristan and Phil for their incredible performance as Officers ‘Extraordinaire’, what an outstanding group! I must mention as well the amazing efforts underway by our recruiting chairs in conjunction with our top five, the best I have EVER seen, lead by Alana, and Catherine with the support of Blake,Victoria, and so many others. Our future is in very good hands! Of course the evening would not have been the same without Pat B’s efforts, and Joe’s BT’s did a great job along with our diligent security detail.

Having the opportunity through the evening even as we hustled to prepare and serve one of my favorite banquets, it was great to hear from members how much they were enjoying, to get a little time to speak in person with Sophie, Alan, Ian, Carl, Lauren, Alex, Dave and Jack, not to mention the 1:30 am chat with Barrett and Alexandra M as they took to the mops post festivities, talk about dedication! Not only that…but according to Barrett..there’s a visit to ‘Beirut’ in my future!!

Of course none of this could happen without the unheralded support of our volunteer Graduate Trustees, who along with Gordon keep us in ‘Business’, and now with John in the picture, aimed at a secure future looking forward, along with a more connected experience for our Alums looking back over the years.

So Thanks everyone, it’s still a thrill, and I’m sure that continue it will, with each and every year. My best wishes to each and everyone of you for a healthy and happy New Year, keep those suggestions coming, and let’s look forward to welcoming our next class joining Cloister in continuing to make memories that last a life time.
