Alumni Spotlight on David Digilio

May 15, 2006

Cloister Inn Member David Digilio '96 has been living and working as a screenwriter in Los Angeles for several years now and recently had his big screen debut with Eight Below, a Disney movie about a team of Antarctic explorers forced to leave their eight sled dogs behind when a sudden storm forces them to evacuate their base. Inspired by a true story, the movie has been a commercial and critical success, grossing over $80 million since it opened in February. While Dave has been gainfully employed as a writer for several years, Eight Below is his first feature film to hit the big screen.

Dave is currently working on Traveler, a new mystery-thriller television series, and has been shuttling between New York and Los Angeles while the pilot episode is being filmed. If all goes well, you can see Dave’s new series on ABC this fall. In addition to his working life, Dave enjoys spending time with his wife Kim (Sladkin) Digilio (Cloister '95), his son Alex, and their dogs, Shorty and Maya, for whom two of the lead characters in Eight Below were named. While at Princeton, Dave was a member of the lightweight crew team and spent many a night “guarding” the Cloister tap room.
