A Word on Recent Events

November 1, 2007

Many of you have read stories in the newspapers about violations that allegedly occurred at Cloister Inn.

I can proudly tell you, without a sliver of doubt, that the charges against club president Savannah Sachs '07 are FALSE.

We fully expect those charges to be dismissed soon, and every indication points in this direction.

While we are reserving comment on the specific details until after the anticipated dismissal, we are fully aware of what occurred (or didn't occur) on the night in question.

* We know that the underaged student at the source of the investigation did NOT consume alcoholic beverages at Cloister that night.
* We know that club policies were enforced to the letter that night.
* We know of the mistakes that occurred in the University's investigation of the underaged student's actions that night that led to the erroneous charges being filed against Savannah.

I appreciate the patience shown by undergraduate and alumni members during this trying time, and we should all celebrate the dignity with which Savannah has carried herself as she has watched her reputation be unfairly tarnished by unfounded allegations.

I look forward to the day, soon to come, when Savannah will be vindicated, and she can regain her reputation as an outstanding campus leader -- one I am proud to say is the leader of my club.
